Bond Elut C18 is a highly hydrophobic silica-based packing material within the product line. It has extremely high retention characteristics for nonpolar compounds and is a popular packing material. C18 is a silica-based packing material that retains most organic compounds from an aqueous matrix, but it may be avoided due to its lack of selectivity. However, when the structures of the target compounds vary significantly and have a wide range of polarities, there is an advantage in retaining them all at once. The polarity interactions between the target compounds and the packing material are not significant due to the strong effect of long-chain hydrocarbons. When analyzing low molecular weight compounds, C18 does not retain salts and allows them to pass through, making it useful for desalting the aqueous matrix prior to ion exchange. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
